The Health Informatics Forum
of the British Computer Society

The Health Informatics Forum (HIF) of the British Computer Society is a body formed to co-ordinate the work of the British Computer Society Specialist Groups (BCS SGs) involved in healthcare computing.

The Specialist Groups are:

Health Informatics Member Group

ASSIST is an a professional association, for those working in and for informatics in healthcare and social care, which came into the BCS in February 2006. Visit ASSIST's website to find out about its activities and meetings.

HIF's role is threefold:
  1. to assist these groups;
  2. to act for BCS in all aspects of healthcare matters;
  3. and to run its own activities, the most important of which is the annual Healthcare Computing Conference. This is held in spring, and attracts about 1000 delegates.
